Frequently Asked Questions

Lending Policy

We only provide loans or lend on vehicles that we supply, and all lending is done subject to your ability to service your loan, and our obligations as a Responsible Lender.

What price vehicle can I obtain credit on – i.e. how much can I borrow?

This is all dependent on your weekly budget – i.e. your ability to repay any borrowings. Normal payments range from $70 to $120 per week.

How long does it take?

The normal lending procedure is that provided you have supplied all the information as detailed on the full application form (plus the supporting documents), and if required we have been able to complete the necessary finance/credit check, then we aim to turn applications around in 4 to 5 days.

However much of this assumes that we have a suitable vehicle in stock and that the necessary vehicle inspections have been completed.

How do I apply?

Complete the full application, provide your supporting documents, and scan these by email to admin@vehiclesalesfinance.co.nz

Alternatively, apply online with our pre-sub application form. This is to be submitted to us by email at info@vehiclesalesfinance.co.nz

If you have used the pre-sub application form on our website the process will take longer, as you still need to complete the full application form and supply the necessary supporting information which enables us to access your application, i.e. a copy of your Driver’s License (front & back), 4 x recent Payslips and/or full MSD WINZ breakdown, 90 Days Bank statements, Proof of address, full contact details of 2 referees – one of which must be a close family member and Security information if required (see full details below).

If you have any questions, give us a call at 0274 426 376.

What do my payments have to be?

We will work out a weekly payment that suits your budget, but as an indication, these are normally between $70 and $120 per week, though there may be some cases where repayments are lower or higher than this. These payments do not include the cost of insurance.

What is the maximum loan term and what are your interest rates?

Approximately 3-4 years (dependent on meeting all payment deadlines).

Current interest rates are Fixed and between 15% and 27.9% (actual interest rate is dependent on your application) – Interest is accrued daily and charged to your account at the end of each month. Interest charges are calculated, by multiplying the unpaid balance at the end of the day by a daily interest rate. The daily interest rate is calculated by dividing the annual interest rate by 365. Interest is charged to your account at the end of each month and in accordance with the Credit Contracts & Consumer Finance Act 2003.

What if there are issues with my credit history?

This isn’t normally a problem. We discuss your credit history and tailor a loan and vehicle to meet your ability to repay. Standard lending terms apply.

What if I have no security?

This is not normally a problem, though we would ask that you obtain a redirection from either your employer or your WINZ benefit.

Supporting documents

Please remember to email admin@vsfltd.co.nz with your supporting documents.

The supporting documents required are:

1. If you can, please download our full application form and send us a completed copy – otherwise our lending officer will go through this with you during the application process.
2. Copy of your four latest payslips and/or copy of your FULL MSD WINZ breakdown
3. Proof of address, i.e. your phone bill or your power bill – If you are in a Kainga Ora (HNZ) home we prefer the front page of your tenancy agreement as proof of address
4. Latest 90 days of bank statements (we will provide a bank link)
5. Copy of your driver’s license – front & back and/or your passport (we must have photo ID)
6. Employment details (if applicable)
7. Full contact information for two referees – one of which must be a close family member. We will need mobile number, email address, home address and details of their relationship to you ie; parent, aunt, close friend etc

We try to make the process easy, but at the same time, we are mindful that your budget has to allow for the costs of running and maintaining the vehicle that we supply, not just the weekly loan repayment. All vehicles must be insured, we are able to arrange cover on your behalf in most instances.

Furthermore, we acknowledge that your circumstances may change from time to time so please keep us updated on changes that may affect your ability to service your loan with us.

If things are becoming difficult for you to make your payments we would rather that you contact us and make a payment arrangement than not – which may lead to repossession of your vehicle.

If you are struggling financially and need assistance, we would also encourage you to make contact with an independent financial mentor or budgeting advice service. Confidential advice is offered free of charge by many organisations including:
