How we use your information.

1. When you apply, we ask you to supply certain information to us. This enables us to assess your affordability for a vehicle/finance loan. We do not wish to over-commit anyone when purchasing/taking finance from our company, and in terms of the Responsible Code of Lending, we take this seriously.

2. We ask you to complete our standard application, which contains your personal information, including your email address, supply proof of address, a copy of your driver’s license, payslips and or WINZ breakdowns, and we ask you to tell us about your credit history.

3. We ask you to confirm the status of the credit. For instance, have you ever had, or are there now, any attachments or legal proceedings against you, or any action for payment default. It is necessary for you to declare any Bankruptcy, whether current or past.

4. It’s important to have these disclosed, and these may or may not inhibit your ability to obtain credit from our company.

5. We ask that you declare you are over 18 years old and are not an undischarged bankrupt. If you are currently Bankrupt you must declare this to us.

6. Pursuant to the Privacy Act 2020 you authorise Vehicle Sales & Finance Limited to contact any credit reporting agencies, credit providers, your employer, Government agency or department, accountant or any other source, to obtain, check and exchange (both now and in the future) such personal financial and commercial information and references about you as is necessary for the purpose of considering this application, the protection and administration of any loan arising out of the application, and to assist in the enforcement of any agreement between you and any finance company.

7. You agree that you may produce this authority to such parties for the purposes of correcting such information. Under the provisions of the Privacy Act 2020, you are entitled to have access to and request correction of personal information held.

8. Furthermore, you specifically authorise the finance company to search by way of credit check for any Ministry of Justice overdue fines that may be outstanding. Overdue fines are defined as fines or reparations overdue for payment to the Ministry of Justice and not under a payment arrangement.

9. Once we have all of this information and agreement, we make every reasonable attempt to keep this information secure. There are times when we need to share this information – for example, when we place insurance on a vehicle for you.

10. Our Privacy Policy may be different to those we may share your information with, so we encourage you to do your own research.

11. Our details – in the unlikely event of a sale of our business or merger of our business with another business, your details may be disclosed.

12. Third-Party Lenders – should we need to refer your application to a third-party lender, then your personal information will be shared. Should this occur, it is likely that they would also conduct their own searches against you with credit agencies, for the purposes of assessing your credit.

13. VEDA – We subscribe to Veda for the purposes of making some credit decisions – i.e. assessing your credit score.

14. Waka Kotahi (NZTA) – We verify your identity through a third-party supplier – this being Waka Kotahi (NZTA).

15. MVR – We are authorised by NZTA Waka Kotahi to access your details as recorded on the Motor Vehicle Register (MVR). VSF Ltd may use the information available on the MVR to verify the ownership status of your vehicle, and other related vehicles where necessary, for administrative purposes during the term of your loan with us. This information is treated in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and is handled and stored securely. When necessary, we may disclose this information to associated contractors, agents and other authorised parties.

You may revoke authorised access to your personal information at any time. You can do this by opting out via the NZTA website at www.nzta.govt.nz.

16. In addition, we may use other lenders, credit agencies and other associated agencies to verify your identity.

17. Google Analytics are used to report important information on the usage of our Site. Such information is reported to the company on a required basis.

18. Appropriate levels of security are used to maintain and protect our client information and databases. However, there may be times when data/information may be accessed by other networks without security measures, and this information may be used by people other than those it was intended for.

19. Consent – you have given your consent to us to use your information by submitting your information and have agreed to our Privacy Policy. You are able to access your information, and should we not have this correctly held, you may change it. You would need to contact us by email to make such a request.

There may be times when we change our Privacy Policy, and as such, we will note any changes on our website.
